Thief's Log Chapter 19 & 20

Hey guys,

Ara here.

As usual. Monday's seem to be my release day for the moment. I'm not honestly sure if it will last.

I've been working hard to catch up on my chapters and get ahead in the stories that I am currently working on.

As such I am excited to announce that I am now a chapter ahead in Thief's Log, and this means that my Patreons will have access to a chapter in advance for this title. This is in addition to many other early access chapters and the Patreon excusive Thief's Log side story Noble's Log. This is set alongside the events of Thief's Log, but gives the story and perspective of a different character (I wonder who?).

I will be releasing a new chapter of Noble's Log soon.

There are many advantages to becoming a Patreon, and many more to come. Every little contribution helps me to keep the site running. Because of this I will soon be introducing some stretch goals on my Patreon.

But in truth what I want to hear is what you would like to see me offer as a creator. What would give you the push you need to support, or to move up a tier?

As always there is no pressure to support. I aim to keep the majority of the site free. Like many creators I just want to put my labor of love out into the world to be seen and (hopefully) appreciated.

I'm rambling now, I know. So I'll give you guys the odd little preview for Thief's Log this week.

Okay, you got me.

What is the deal with the gods anyway?

It's not like they ever do anything for us.

Oh Ara!

I've been waiting for you to ask just this sort of question!

No, I didn't mean to- shit.

...

Monte, Don't you dare think about sneaking away.

I've gotta listen to it, so do you.

You're both babies.

Besides I can't believe that you both don't already know the story of the Gods.

Short version, Reta.

That's no fun.

...

But I won't pass up this chance.

...

In answer to your question, Ara, the Gods assist us in many ways.

Emetria the Goddess of the Earth lives her life in constant service to all living creatures.

She lives at the center of the earth and she beats the drum that keeps all our hearts beating in time.

That is the reason that every living creature of Jiold has the same bas heartbeat. Because we are all

Emetria's childen.

Really, 'cause I thought that there was some other god who created most of those living creatures.

See you know more than you think.

Even if you only use that knowledge to contradict me.

Yes, you are correct. The God Parquist created beings of flesh and blood.

But Parquist isn't even worth consideration for your original question.

That's because she was stripped of her powers and sent away.

She has no godly powers to aid us.

Just because she designed us, doesn't mean that Parquist is the only one

with powers over us.

I hate the way you said that.

Oh, I know!

Anyway,

Their elder brother Drumut is God of the skys. He uses his own thick

hair to weave the sky for us. The sun, the moon, the clouds, weather and the

tides all fall under his power.

It's of vital importance and it isn't something he can just stop,

like Emetria and her drum it is a vital part of our world.

Finally there's Atray, the God that leads the dead to the Abyss.

Once there he decides if they have led a good enough life to pass on to the

next world. He is very important, but the Exulted don't pay him as much

consideration as they should.

That's probably why we don't know as much about him.

I hope they all end up stuck in the Abyss, so that they can learn more about Atray

directly. That way they'll hopefully have more reverence in their next lives.

...

Stop faking!

There's no way you'd have fallen asleep.

This is the short version!

...

...

Stop sniggering, M.

Since you're attached at the hip, you'll be stuck with my revenge as well.

The Gods Lesson: Part Two!

...

That's it from me for this week.

Hope wherever you are COVID stays far away.

Ta-ta.
