Hey guys,
Ara here.
So, recently a friend of mine gave me some writing challenges. Five days worth in fact.
I think I did alright. (Judge for yourself, they are all on the Tatsu's Challenge page)
Some (most) of the final product left me wanting.
I plan so much in writing, and having restrictions especially word counts is hard for me.
I love a challenge, but I have so much more to express on these tales.
I asked my challenger, Tatsu, which one I should expand first. She chose ANGEL.
Admittedly I was excited, very excited, but also a little overwhelmed. ANGEL is hard to write, changing perspectives between aliens and humans is disjointing.
I should probably explain. ANGEL was based upon this picture:

I also had some other restrictions, my protagonist was looking for a 'key' and had to explain themselves out of a run in with the police.
I responded with the original ANGEL chapter. It was a little over the word count (unsurprising), but it turned out nicely.
My protagonist is a being who's existence is represented as a colour. This colour isn't in the human spectrum.
Colour's race, the ANGELS, don't communicate verbally. They do so through the kin, a system that links their minds.
Though the kin is more complicated than that. The kin represents the ANGELS as a whole, their connection, their technology, their government, and a deeper sense of themselves as both an individual and a part of the greater kin. Kin is also the name of their super computer.
Those of the kin with strong mental abilities have long hair, Colour is quite powerful in that sense.
ANGELS also see gender differently, as they have the technology to change at will. Most are born gender-less, they only assign a specific gender when procreating, or when it is required for a mission.
The kin are very similar to humans. Many theorize that they evolved from the same homo sapiens, but due to their different society they have evolved differently.
Perhaps because of this similarity many ANGELS feel a strong affinity for humans.
Some even take this attachment as far as leaving the kin, these are called Fallen.
Fallen tend to be attracted by the lure of human emotions. As the kin internalize and share emotions without expression, mentally.
I hope that that gives you some idea about the ANGELS.
Admittedly, I'm still not sure what form the 'key' will take (I have some ideas though).
I do know we're soon going to meet some Fallen and some Rek'hath, the old enemies of the ANGELS. Colour's human tag-a-longs are in for a rough ride!
I'm a little embarrassed to admit, the second chapter took me some time. While I was looping around Colour's thoughts and feelings I drew a few sketches.
I'm not very good at art, but I think my depictions get the point across. I may post more in the future.
Below is a male Rek'hath, Colour's eye and a basic depiction of Colour. (Sorry for the low quality, I mostly draw in my notebook and make important notes about the subject as I go).
There is a link to ANGEL in the Purgatorium banner, have a look if you're interested.
I will aim to post a new ANGEL chapter by the end of the week.
You can also look forward to some more write ups on my other works over the next few days!
Ta-ta for now.
